About Terry

Field of Chrysanthemums

Counseling is a second career for Terry, who has worked in various capacities in Human Service for 31+ years. After 15 years as a therapist (7 years in private practice), Terry closed her office in New Jersey and relocated with her husband, to Myrtle Beach, S.C.  She recently acquired her South Carolina license as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), and is ready to open a part-time practice focusing on Grief and Loss, Pet Bereavement, and General Mental Health/ Life Adjustment issues.

Terry’s therapeutic approach is individualized to each client’s need. She is people oriented, multicultural sensitive, and experienced working with diverse populations as well as working in various settings (both group and individual).  Because her orientation is based in Grief and Loss, she focuses on helping her clients turn their negatives into positives in a non-threatening and empathetic environment, delicately mixed with humor.

Prior experiences include working in a community-based agency, where she worked with individuals, and groups experiencing various types of mental health and addiction issues. In her private practice, Terry worked primarily with adults experiencing anxiety and depression, life adjustment, and grief and loss issues. In addition, Terry was on staff at a veterinary hospital where she researched and developed material that she continues to use when conducting pet bereavement sessions.

Terry holds an Associate of Art degree from Mercer County Community College (Special Education); Bachelor in Science degree from Trenton State College (Special Education); a Master’s of Arts degree from Rider University (Community Counseling), and a certificate from Hood College (Grief and Loss).   In addition, she is certified as a Special Education Teacher (K -12). She is licensed as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in South Carolina and New Jersey. Terry currently carries a small case load of clients, who reside in New Jersey, via phone sessions. Hours are by appointment only. To schedule an appointment, call (843) 349-0458, and leave a message. Terry welcomes all calls, and will personally return all inquiries as practically possible.

She and her husband of 49 years, reside in Carolina Forest, where she has her home-based practice. In addition, Terry has two grown children, and two grand dogs.

Terry’s Creed

There is a time for everything and a season for every activity under heaven;

 A time to be born and a time to die,

A time to plant and a time to uproot,

A time to kill and a time to heal,

A time to tear down, and a time to build,

 A time to weep, and a time to dance….

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 NIV
